We
never did get around to going to look at cars today since the car we
wanted to look at was out and about, so we're going there tomorrow
instead. So instead of major shopping I indulged in finding new
recipes! And au contraire to what people might expect from me, with
all my baking, it was savoury food all the way! I trawled Google for
the recipe (and name) of chinese noodles my neighbours from Karlstad
let me try before I moved back home for the summer. After some
research I think they are called 拉面 (pronunced
lamien or lamian, apparently closely related to the word ramen) and
they are made from a wheat dough that is rolled out quite thin, cut
into strips and stir-fried or boiled. They taste like some sort of
strange mix between pasta and bread and they're fantastically good in spicy veggie soup - so making lamien is my project for tomorrow (besides finally going to see the car...).
I have felt quite inspired by the asian cuisine these last days so today I marinated some chicken in a chinese spice mix I got from earlier mentioned neighbours, Yang and Yidan. Not very advanced, I agree, but oh so good. I just wish I knew where to get more of the spices! Yidan told me they order it from China in 20kg boxes, but I didn't get a website or company name from her. Need to ask and ask again! Because both me and Rob (my boyfriend, for those of you who are un-initiated) are crazy about it and mum seemed to like it as well when she tried a bite. Definitely need to get my hand on more of this stuff. China town in Birmingham - another place on my long list of what to visit and try this autumn. I have one and a half bag left of the spices and I never ever ever want them to run out.
And to finish it all off, a little picture of my sweet little bundle of fluff. If ever there was a lazy dog, he is it.
Now I'm off to bed because I need some sleep!
Nighty night all :3
